Writing, Dogs and Me
by Linda O. Johnston
Owwoooh!
That's a howl, if you couldn't tell. A wolf's howl. That's because my latest release is CANADIAN WOLF, the seventh book in my Alpha Force miniseries for Harlequin Nocturne, which are paranormal romances.
Alpha Force is a covert military unit of shapeshifters, not all werewolves but most are. They also have cover dogs so if anyone happens to see them in shifted form they'll hopefully just think they've seen the dog who's the pet of the nice military guy or girl. In this case, CANADIAN WOLF, the heroine happens to be the shapeshifter.
And, yes, the series is nice and romantic and sexy for humans, with the hero and heroine all hot for one another despite their conflicts and differences.
Here's what CANADIAN WOLF is about:
Sergeant Major Owen Dewirter lives every day with the guilt of having let a shifter hurt one of his own. Now he must work beside Alpha Force newcomer Selena Jennay to train a new covert unit of shifters for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and stop a rash of serial kidnappings. Can Owen ignore his prejudices--and fantasies--about this sexy new partner and do his job?
Oh, and by the way, if you happen not to be into shapeshifters and would rather read about real dogs, I also write a couple of mystery series featuring dogs. Next month my second Superstition Mystery KNOCK ON WOOD will be released by Midnight Ink. And yes, it features dogs since my protagonist manages a pet boutique and happens to own a lucky black and white dog. I also write the Barkery & Biscuits mysteries where my vet tech protagonist also owns a barkery and bakery.
In case you can't tell, I love dogs. I've always loved dogs, and right now they provide a major inspiration to my writing.
CANADIAN WOLF is actually my 40th published novel. Yes, I've been at this for a while and started getting fiction published while I was a practicing attorney. Now, my law license is officially inactive and I'm a full-time writer.
Are there more stories to come? Absolutely! And many of them involve dogs.
Check out Linda's Barkery and Biscuits mystery series.
Carrie Kennersly, a veterinary technician, has become known for offering healthy and popular dog treats at the clinic where she works. When the local bakery's owner moves away, Carrie jumps at the chance to convert it into the Barkery, a shop to make and sell her canine delights.
But Myra Ethman, co-owner of another pet product store, hates the new competition. At the Barkery's opening party, she badmouths Carrie's homemade dog biscuits, insisting she'll find a way to shut the place down. So when Myra is found dead with a Barkery biscuit beside her, Carrie must prove she didn't do it before she's collared for murder.

I do enjoy cozy mysteries, so "Bite the Biscuit" does sound like something I would pick up.

Thanks for the giveaway book sounds great
I do dabble in cozies, and BITE THE BISCUIT does sound like one I'd enjoy, though I'd also be interested in Ms. Johnston's PNR titles. Thanks for the intro to her work!
