Promo Post & Giveaway: Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh

at 5/26/2015 09:54:00 PM 0 comments

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation"--the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was...

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a Changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several Changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion--and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities--or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation...

Release Day Euphoria! Vol 6 Issue 1

In a futuristic world nearly destroyed by religious extremists, Justin March lives in exile after failing in his job as an investigator of religious groups and supernatural claims. But Justin is given a second chance when Mae Koskinen comes to bring him back to the Republic of United North America (RUNA). Raised in an aristocratic caste, Mae is now a member of the military’s most elite and terrifying tier, a soldier with enhanced reflexes and skills.
When Justin and Mae are assigned to work together to solve a string of ritualistic murders, they soon realize that their discoveries have exposed them to terrible danger. As their investigation races forward, unknown enemies and powers greater than they can imagine are gathering in the shadows, ready to reclaim the world in which humans are merely game pieces on their board.
Gameboard of the Gods, the first installment of Richelle Mead’s Age of X series, will have all the elements that have made her YA Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series such megasuccesses: sexy, irresistible characters; romantic and mythological intrigue; and relentless action and suspense.
As much as I would love to read Richelle's new book, I have exhausted my book budget. If you are in the SoCal area, Richelle is doing 2 signings on 6/5 at a Barnes & Noble in Santa Monica and on 6/6 at Mysterious Galaxy bookstore in San Diego. You can click here to see more details about both signings. They are wristband events so you have to buy a copy of her book at the bookstore where the signing is taking place.

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…
EEEKKKKKKKK!!!! I finished reading this book today at 3 am but man, the lack of sleep was worth it. Review to come.

Race car driver Gray Preston enjoys fast cars and an uncomplicated life, until political aide Evelyn Hill enters the picture and complicates the hell out of it with a request that he help out his estranged father’s political campaign. Racing and politics don’t mix, but Gray and Evelyn’s sexual attraction sizzles like asphalt in August.
I love the Play by Play series and I was curious to see how Jaci Burton would extend her series, especially after Alicia's book, since there are no more Rileys to pair up. Definitely a good read. Review to come.

A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained bloodred.
A woman whose very existence has been erased.
A love story so dark, it may shatter the world itself.
A deadly price that must be paid.
The day of reckoning is here.

This book will be the 12th installment of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling series. I remember when I first read the Psy-Changling series. Sigh~ I read Angel's Blood (book 1 of the Guild Hunter series) and I wanted more Nalini Singh! If you are in the Long Beach area today (6/4) come to Mysterious Galaxy of Redondo Beach to get your book signed! Click here for more deets.

Book Review: Archangel's Storm by Nalini Singh

~*~Theme Song of the Day: Good Life by One Republic~*~

I have been a fan of Nalini Singh every since I read her book Slave to Sensation, the first book in the Psy-Changeling series. I loved her writing! Her characters have such depth and personality that it's hard not to think of them as real people. I met her for the first time at RWA Anaheim this year and got a lovely autograph and picture to boot. Anyways, I am christianing my new book reviewing blog with Nalini Singh's Archangel's Storm. This book was recently released as the latest installment of Nalini's Guild Hunter Series. For those of you who are familiar with this series, this book is Jason's story. Jason, an angel, is Raphael's spymaster and a member of his Seven. The Seven are a group of vampires or angels who have sworn their fealty to Raphael. It has been hinted in the previous books of this series that Jason has a dark, scarring past that keeps him withdrawn from the world. This book follows in the aftermath of book 4, Archangel's Blade. The first chapter is mostly in Jason's perspective and we see what he sees in his eyes. I loved the first chapter! It was a bit of a continuation of book 4 with Dmitri and Honor. I don't know if it was on purpose, on the rise or I'm just hallucinating, this book was kinda formatted like a soap opera.  Throughout the book there are snippets of Dmitri and Honor, with quick guest appearances by Raphael, Elena, and Venom. Now, on to the main event.

Synposis:
With wings of midnight and an affinity for shadows, Jason courts darkness. But now, with the Archangel Neha’s consort lying murdered in the jewel-studded palace that was his prison and her rage threatening cataclysmic devastation, Jason steps into the light, knowing he must unearth the murderer before it is too late.

Earning Neha’s trust comes at a price—Jason must tie himself to her bloodline through the Princess Mahiya, a woman with secrets so dangerous, she trusts no one. Least of all an enemy spymaster.

With only their relentless hunt for a violent, intelligent killer to unite them, Jason and Mahiya embark on a quest that leads to a centuries-old nightmare… and to the dark storm of an unexpected passion that threatens to drench them both in blood

The minute I got my hands on this book I started reading and didn't put it down once. Overall the suspense and plot lines are top notch. Nalini Singh is a genius. She's one of the few authors that I'd actually pay full price for her books to be delivered the day it gets released. Archangel's Storm is an excellent continuation of the Guild Hunter series. With lush descriptions, witty dialog, emotionally-scarred, but strong characters, Nalini always manages to exceed my expectations. Definitely a good read for those who have read the Guild Hunter series and for those who haven't read any Nalini Singh books yet, now's a good time to start. I give this book, on a scale of 1/2 to 5 stars......drumroll please.....4 stars!!!!

Me with Nalini at RWA Anaheim

Nalini's Bio: I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated frequently).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
