Halloween6synopsisCrimsonNight
Welcome to Carnivale Diabolique ― or what I affectionately like to call the circus of the damned.
My name is Pandora, and though my face might not look familiar to you, you do know me. I'm a Nephilim. What does that mean? I'm half demon, what's my other name? Lust. I'm the dark craving that drives you mad, makes you want, makes you reckless and stupid. I'm the drug you'll do anything to get your hands on. But I'm not all bad. I fight for light, for goodness and truth. I love my job, killing vampires and werewolves, zombies, and freaks... it's what makes me happy. But people are starting to disappear and lately I've felt a dark presence lurking around me. I think it might be a reaper, that's not good. There isn't much a demon like me fears, but I fear them. This should have been easy, me killing the fanged freaks, getting rid of my pesky grim reaper, but I'm about to be betrayed by the one person I thought I could trust with my life and before the night is through I'll be covered in crimson...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Marlene Sanchez was born in New York and raised in Miami. Her family and friends are an important part of her life, a constant inspiration, and keep her motivated to succeed in pursuing her dream. She has had a passion for writing since her ninth grade English teacher put it all into perspective for her. “Write how you speak and write what you know.” She credits her teacher every chance she gets for giving her a love of writing!
Marlene writes mystery/suspense with a sprinkle of romance. Her love of crime and legal dramas, and of course The Godfather, has opened her eyes to the wonderful world of mystery/suspense. The action and thrill is what keeps her fingers gliding across the keyboard, as her brain explodes with ideas about the next unfortunate victim.
She is a strong, independent woman because her Cuban mother raised her right. Her main characters embrace that same attitude; strong Cuban American women that take no “caca” from anyone.
Marlene has a couple of books under her belt, with several in the works to release in 2014. She hopes to someday be a household name, at least in her own home if nowhere else. She just wants her sons to be proud of her, that’s reward enough… Yeah right, she wants the fame and fortune too.

The Story of Us Trilogy Continues …

TouchStone
for giving

Elizabeth Parker has been found …
Like a falling star she has come down to earth, landing painfully on the debris of a broken dream. What she thought of as love now seems no more than a wish left unfulfilled. Her future lies in the hands of two powerfully possessive men; each desiring her to the point of insanity.
Flawless media mogul Ayden Stone oversees her voyage of sexual awakening, introducing her to new experiences and a secret world behind locked doors, away from prying eyes. But … is he Prince Charming or merely the great pretender?
With a fighter’s instinct, Dan Rizler continues to box clever; taking his time, waiting for the right moment to strike. He will have his Princess one way or another.
Into this twisted triangle enters Elise Richards; a woman with a past and a passion for revenge: hell hath no fury like Miss. Richards.
This is a modern fairy tale full of romance, secrets and suspense. Elizabeth Parker is about to be caught, held fast by the hand of fate; but will she be caught out or caught up in an affair of the heart, body and soul?
When nothing else matters … you have to do or die.

Blog Tour Book Review: A Bluestocking Christmas by Monica Burns

at 10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM 3 comments
Sinful words, wicked pleasures and a ghost all add up to A Bluestocking Christmas with a Dickens of a twist.
As a young man, Simon, Viscount Wycombe learned the painful truth that a tradesman’s daughter is suitable only for liaisons and nothing more. But Ivy Beecham is a far cry from his preconceived notions, and he’s determined to have her. But when she rejects him, it only increases his determination to seduce her into a world of sin and pleasure.
Ivy Beecham knows first-hand that handsome aristocrats like Simon can’t be trusted. But the intellectual scoundrel is hellbent on making her his mistress, using every means at his seductive disposal. When she refuses to give away her heart on Christmas Eve, a ghostly specter shows her in one night why her surrender can be the greatest gift of all.

This book was certainly steamy, especially for a historical romance novel! It had A Christmas Carol theme to it with a romantic, charming hero and an emotionally-scarred girl of mixed classes. Ivy is no stranger to rejection. As a young girl, her parents died and she was sent to love with her aunt, uncle and cousin. Upon stepping foot into her new home, she was met with hostility and constant ridicule because her mother married outside of her social circle. The verbal, emotional and mental attacks on  a young girl left scars that shaped her world view on the aristocracy. Her disdain for them increased more after a betrayal by her first love and the cousin she thought of as a sister. Where does the Simon come in? Viscount Wycombe knows what it's like to be betrayed by family and a loved one. He and Ivy are very much alike, though Ivy likes to deny it. Their first encounter was a confrontation of sorts and much miscommunication by the hero. Simon, had perceived Ivy as a social climber who used her womanly woes on his nephew. A kiss, a caress and an intellectual game of "catch me, if you can" has the heroine falling head over heels for the dash and quite sexual hero. I really liked this book, though there were some parts that annoyed me. The tension and bad juju between Ivy and her cousin caused a strain in their relationship and after many years has passed, Ivy still can't see pass the betrayal to forgive her cousin. I thought Ivy was extremely selfish and a bit of an ostrich. Because of this perceived betrayal of confidence by Simon, she breaks up their liaison. She starts hallucinating and sees a ghostly figure who shows her how she and Simon came to be and how precious it was. Overall, I loved the premise of the book. There was passion and heartache with plenty of steaminess to go around.

Promo Post: Excerpt of Rotten by JL Brooks

at 10/20/2013 01:10:00 AM 0 comments

Growing up on the outskirts of Las Vegas as the daughter of notorious strip club owner, Stephen Knox, and a mother who abandoned her at birth, life was less than kind to a young Antoinette.

After a failed teenage suicide attempt, Toni hit the road in search of a life free of undeserved cruelty and any resemblance to her past.

Years later, Toni is lost in a dead end marriage and makes a painful confession that sends her back to the one place she always wanted to escape. But can she really right the wrongs that haunt her? Toni soon finds that the only place where things stay the same is in your mind.

When her path crosses with David Stark, childhood playmate turned one night stand, she cannot deny the spike in temperature she feels every time he's near or the scorching dreams that flood her at night.

Digging through the years of heartache, Toni soon finds herself torn between the man she is committed to and the one who has always held her heart. As each layer unfolds before her, she discovers the root cause of her pain. Always believing the source was external, nothing could prepare her for the truth.

*This book contains sexual content and adult language. Intended for readers 17+.

Excerpt

As I cracked the old bathroom door open, steam rushed out in vapor clouds before me. David looked up as I approached him in nothing but a towel. Still not saying anything, I used my ankle to kick his knees apart. He looked at me oddly until the towel dropped to the floor in a large heap of cotton. Crawling up onto his lap, I used the palm of my hand to push his forehead back into the fabric of the sofa and pressed my naked body into his chest.
“Are you going to run away again?” I whispered.
His hands tentatively caressed the damp skin on the back of my thighs while licking his lips. “No ma’am.”

Blog Tour Post: Death and the Girl He Loves by Darynda Jones

at 10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM 27 comments

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The fate of the world is not something a girl wants on her shoulders, and that is especially true for Lorelei McAlister.  Unfortunately for her, that is exactly where the world’s fate has decided to take up residence. Lorelei has seen firsthand the horrors that lie beneath our everyday world. And those horrors are getting her friends killed. Because of this, she agrees to leave the sanctity of her hometown and is sent to a different world entirely. A boarding school. But even here she is being watched. Someone knows what she is. What she carries inside her soul.  And on top of that she’s seeing visions.  This is nothing new for Lorelei.  But these visions are something more: death, destruction, and the end of the world.   Lorelei must face the fact that there are people who want her dead, and no matter where she goes, no matter how far she runs, the lives of her friends and family are in mortal peril.  Lucky for her, her friends and family include the handsome Angel of Death, a fiercely protective half-angel, and a ragtag group of loyal supporters who aren’t afraid to get a little dirty in the name of fighting pure evil.
Excerpt

After releasing a loud sigh to emphasize my annoyance,
I settled onto the countertop and touched my fingertips to
the picture. I concentrated on clearing my mind, relaxing
my muscles, focusing on the lines, the blurriness of the
man’s face, the wind cutting through the air. Then I heard it.
The wind. I felt it against my skin, and the ripple that had
quaked through my fingertips before did so again.
A tightness wrapped around me as the wind roared around
me, and my first thought was of my parents— the scene so
real, I fought to breathe under the weight of it. I was back. I
was at the ruins where my parents disappeared. It had been
ten years, but I was there. I looked around frantically, wanting
to see them, praying I’d see them, but they were already
gone. I’d entered the scene too late. I looked on as a beast
stood before me. He was as tall as the trees around us. His
shoulders as wide as the horizon.
Fear gripped me so fast and so hard, I was catapulted out
of the picture.
“Lorelei,” Brooklyn said, her voice muffled as though she
were underwater. “Lorelei, it’s me.”
I pushed at her, held out my arms to keep her back, kicked
out. Then I realized where I was. I’d scrambled for a corner
of the girls’ restroom and found myself wedged between a
wall and a trash can.
“Lor, are you okay?” Brooke’s eyes were like saucers, wide
and uncertain. “Lor,” she said right before collapsing into
my arms. “I thought you had a seizure or something.”
“What happened?” I asked.
“You fell and flew back against the concrete.”
That would explain the splitting headache I suddenly had.
“And your eyes rolled back. I thought— Oh, my God—”
“I’m okay,” I said, soothing her, hugging her back. I realized
then that Kenya had come in. She stood in the doorway,
her expression wary.
“I did it,” I said breathlessly.
