Merit has been a vampire for only a short while, but she’s already seen a lifetime’s worth of trouble. She and her Master, centuries-old Ethan Sullivan, have risked their lives time and again to save the city they love. But not all of Chicago is loving them back.
Anti-vampire riots are erupting all over town, striking vampires where it hurts the most. A splinter group armed with Molotov cocktails and deep-seated hate is intent on clearing the fanged from the Windy City come hell or high water.
Merit and her allies rush to figure out who’s behind the attacks, who will be targeted next, and whether there’s any way to stop the wanton destruction. The battle for Chicago is just beginning, and Merit is running out of time.
First, I want to thank the lovely staff at Berkley/NAL, Penguin Group who sent me this ARC. Chloe Neill has done it again with the next installment of her Chicagoland Vampires series. I have been a fan of Neil since Comic Con 2012. I was passing by a publisher's booth and one of the booth babes handed me a copy of Some Girls Bite, the first book in the series. After recovering from my day in geek central, I started reading the book and didn't put it down until I was done with the whole thing. By the time I was done, I was in love with the Merit's world and could not wait to get my hands on the next book, then the next book, then the next book, and so on. Like many of you, I am waiting on pins and needles for the next installment and according to Neil's website, next book after Biting Bad is called Wild Things. :D
After finishing this book, I sat in speechless silence. For 5 MINUTES! I read through the book like there was no tomorrow. Now, that I think about it, that's exactly what it felt like. Merit and Sullivan are still in their cutesy (lusty) phase of their relationship and things were actually ok....UNTIL! A BLOOD4YOU factory is set on fire by a bunch of rioters who hate vampires. Things were already tense with Cadogan House breaking away from the GP, but the GP makes a move that no one saw coming. Mischief is afoot in the streets of Chicago and Merit is just the girl to get things done! Things get personal when the rioters start to attack friends and allies of the Cadogan House. All of the characters you know and love are given enough face time. I especially loved the banter between Merit and Ethan when they are alone. :D
There are plenty of one lined zingers and playful banter scattered in every chapter to give you a good laugh. Chloe Neill certainly knows what she's writing about. Biting Bad is definitely worth reading and a great addition to the series. I give this book a five star rating!
Click the links below to pre-order a copy! The book is set to be released on August 6th. If you want to take your chances with Lady Luck, I am giving away a paperback copy of Biting Bad, along with a Chicagoland bag and a pack of various swag! Cannot wait to read this!!! :-) Great review!
Merit well kick some butt and might fall in love!!!! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!
I cannot wait to read this! I predict it will be an adjustment for the Cadogan vamps to learn to live "alone", there will probably be an unrelated, yet somehow fully related, mystery, and I predict that this book will end in yet another torturous cliff hanger!
Looking forward to seeing how Codogan house fares after withdrawing from the Greenwich Presidium. And how Merit will juggle her Sentinel duties and Red Guard membership. Thanks!
This is going to be one kick-ass book :)
I try not to predict anything with this book series. I love the suprise.
I cant wait!!Always ready for new Merit and Ethan :)
I am looking forward to seeing how CH handles going out on their own. Also hoping for some peaceful times between Merit and Ethan personally although I know there is never peace in the city...otherwise we would never see Merit be the kick ass heroine she is!
I am most looking forward to a mostly drama free Merit and Ethan relationship. They are solid and working well together and I love to see that, especially after all the crap they have gone through!
I am hoping Merit has past her weird teen age self centeredness from the last novel. A bit of acting late 20s instead of mid teens would be very nice.
I'm excited to read more Merit. One of, if not, my favorite female characters in the UF/PR genre.
My major prediction is that I'll have the book read a few hours after it hits my hot little hands!! LOL Looking forward to it.
I cannot wait til Biting Bad comes out. I've had it pre ordered since February, I think. Love this series!
Ethan and Merit relationship will grow and that the pack will help their house if they need it.
My predictions are we will find out more from the shifters. Maybe more from Jeff. I absolutely love, love this series.
Predictions for the new book? I would *like* to see less drama for Merit and Ethan, but I think, realistically, they'll have lots of drama and dangerous adventures. Can't wait!
I'm thinking Merit and Ethan take their relationship to the next level (maybe Ethan proposes?).
I already read some reviews of it so i don't want to give anything away!! I am dying to read this though!!
A proposal maybe??? Hm...don't think so!
Hopefully lots of good lovin time between Merit and Ethan. A big fight in which Merit kicks a** as usual. :) Some witty and hilarious banter, which we've come to expect. And a twist that ill never have seen coming.
I am a huge fan of this series and I am so hoping there is a lot of Merit and Ethan.
No more huge drama between Merit, and Ethan. :D Awesome team work, awesome fights with bad guys. Amazing story from beginning to end. :D
Ahhhh, I can't wait for Biting Bad! I'm hoping we get to learn more about Gabe's prophecy that involved Merit, his own kid, and those mysterious green eyes!
One more week..........!!!!!!
I have not read it, yet, but I am sure the book will do amazing in sales!
I really looking forward to Merit's kickass scenes!
No idea, I'm still a few books behind. Thanks for the giveaway!
My prediction for biting bad is that chicago gets a new mayor and we get a vague mention of the premonition that gabriel had about "eyes like but not like ethans"
Maybe Ethan will ask Merit to marry him? :)
I am looking forward to more of the Ethan and Merit craziness and maybe a commitment ceremony or engagement soon? Thanks for the giveaway!

I'm horrible at trying to predict stuff, but I hope to see Merit and Ethan grow stronger together, maybe move towards marriage?
