“This is an emotional star-crossed lovers tale with tangible depths and an attitude that’s relatable to real life.” –RT Book Reviews

Last time Lila Harris was in Happy, Texas, she was actively earning her reputation as the resident wild child. Now, a little older and wiser, she's back to run her mother's café for the summer. Except something about this town has her itching to get a little reckless and rowdy, especially when she sees her old partner-in-crime, Brody Dawson. Their chemistry is just as hot as ever. But he's still the town's golden boy-and she's still the wrong kind of girl.

Brody hasn't had much time lately for anything other than ranching. Running the biggest spread in the county and taking care of his family more than keeps him busy. All that responsibility has him longing for the carefree days of high school—and Lila. She may have grown up, but he still sees that spark of mischief in her eyes. Now he's dreaming about late-night skinny dipping and wondering how he can possibly resist the one woman he can never forget...

If you like second chance love stories, this is the book for you. Brody Dawson and Lila Harris were thick as thieves when they were younger. For some reason, the Dawsons (the older female relatives anyway) did not approve of their association. Several days before Lila and her mother were set to move out of town, Brody asks Lila out on an official date…. only to leave her hanging and breaking her poor little heart. I honestly did not like this about Brody. He certainly grew up into a great guy, but was pretty spineless in his youth. I didn’t quite understand the Dawson women’s dislike of Lila.  What was it about Lila that made her not good enough for Brody? I didn’t like their high and mighty attitudes and quite honestly, it was a mark against them.

Years later, Lila is back in town for the summer to help sell her mother’s café. Despite being a wild child in her younger years, Lila grew up to be a responsible adult. Years and distance can change a person, and the pair of them are no exception. The spark between them is just as intense as it was when they were younger. Brody is hell bent on winning Lila back, but will he succeed? The spunky, rag-tag residents of Happy, Texas provide good banter and substance to Brody and Lila’s story. Definitely worth a read if you’re in the mood for a second chance romance.
