Excerpt

He made a move to get up, but she lost it, knowing
once she spotted the pity in his eyes she may
never be the same. “Don’t you dare feel sorry for me!
I need you to leave. I’m begging you to go out the
door and give me time. Tomorrow, I’ll put myself back
together and everything will be fine.” Her voice broke
but she pushed on. “I just need some time alone. To
process. Please, Wolfe, please just go.”
She had nothing left, so she turned and walked toward
the window. He didn’t move from the edge of
the bed. Didn’t breathe. She pressed her forehead to
the cool pane of glass and prayed to finish this awful
night in isolation. Tomorrow she’d get her shit together
and it would be okay. But tonight all bets were
off, and she felt dangerously out of control . . . on the
pinnacle of something so fierce she didn’t know how
to handle it.
The mattress creaked. Shoes hit the floor. She
held her breath and waited for the blessed silence,
but instead of heading out, he stopped right behind
her. His body heat roped her in and pulled tight, like
a helpless calf at the rodeo. She held the windowsill
in a deathlike grip, sensing him closing the distance
inch by precious inch, until his chest pressed against
her back.
“Look at me.”
The rough growl was full of danger, command,
heat. She was helpless to disobey, leaving the safety
of the window to turn and face him full force. He
reached out and tipped her chin up.
Blistering, raw lust shot from his eyes. As if they
were glowing from under the sea in the Caribbean,
she tumbled into the depths of a gaze that promised
everything with a Warning: Danger label attached.
His grip tightened, refusing to allow her to retreat,
and he crowded her space by taking another step between
her thighs. The sill dug into her lower back. His
scent drowned out everything but the need to touch
him, feast, taste—the delicious mix of lemon and soap
and cotton surrounding her.
“I need you to listen closely, because I’m only
going to say it once. Understood?”
Her lips parted. This was no friend. This was a
deadly man with an agenda. Transfixed, she nodded,
unable to form words, mere prey beneath the command
of a dangerous predator.
“I’m done with excuses and conversation and politeness.
I’m over this bullshit of you questioning the
power you have to grip me in a vise so tight I can’t
even breathe without wanting you with my last
breath. I’m tired of walking around with a dick that
won’t go down when I catch your scent, or look at
your sweet curves, or imagine being buried deep
within you. Are you still listening, Gen?”
Her body flamed so hot and bright she was surprised
burn marks didn’t appear on her skin. She
began to shake, and her belly uncurled so a river flow
of liquid warmth coursed between her thighs, tightening
her muscles, gripping her with a need she’d
never experienced or believed could be real. “Yes,”
she whispered.
“Good. Because tonight I’m going to fuck you. All
night. If I was a true friend, I’d walk out that door and
give you the space to rebuild your walls. You deserve
that. But I’m a selfish prick who needs you in my bed
so bad I’ll trade my soul to the devil for one taste of
you. Still listening?”
“Y-y-yes.”
“I’ll give you three seconds to run. It’s the smart
thing to do. Just walk away from me and we’ll never
mention this again. We’ll go back to being friends,
push this whole episode aside, and go on pretending.
But if you’re still standing here after that, you’re mine.
Every part of you. And I promise you’ll never question
your ability to cast a sexual spell on a man so
deep and encompassing he’ll spend the rest of his life
comparing you to every other woman he touches.”
Her head spun, the room tilted, and she grasped
his arm to keep her balance. “Wolfe.”
“One.”
Her stomach dropped to her toes. His mouth
moved closer.
“Oh, God.”
 “Two.”
She swallowed, one foot poised for flight, knowing
it would wreck everything, change their relationship
forever, open a door that could never be shut and
locked again.
“I don’t—”
“Three. Too late. You belong to me for tonight.”
“I think—”
“Don’t think. Just give me everything you got.”
He cupped her cheeks, dropped his head, and took
her mouth.

My name is Kennedy Brooks and you're not going to like me. Chances are you may even hate me, and that's okay, there are times I do too.

I had choices, we all do, the ones that I made changed everything.

Before I knew it, the lines of right and wrong began to blur and I was consumed so deeply that I couldn't see a way out even if I wanted to.

The path I chose is not for the faint of heart, it isn't always sweet, but it's real.

What happens when all the things you have always wanted suddenly aren't all you want anymore? What do you do when the forbidden screams your name and both parts of your life become as vital as the air you breathe?

You make a choice.

This is my story.

Blog Tour Promo/Book Review Post: The Duke's Bedeviled Bride

at 5/29/2015 12:06:00 AM 1 comments

Today, we are featuring The Duke's Bedeviled Bride, book two in the erotic historic Royal Pains series by Nina Mason. The series, set in Scotland and England during the Restoration period, is available in e-book or paperback.

Buy it now at Amazon.com
The tawdry tale of the Duke and Duchess of Dunwoody continues?

Maggie Armstrong, the long-lost illegitimate daughter of the heir
presumptive to the throne, is bedeviled by her husband's limited
definition of fidelity. After observing him in a menage a trois at the
court of King Charles II, she is determined to bring him around to her
way of thinking? By any means necessary.

Robert doesn't mind being punished for his transgressions. Rather,
he enjoys being whipped, especially by his beloved bride. Unfortunately,
her heart might not belong to him alone. His younger brother, who he'd
sent abroad to clear the way for himself, is coming home sooner than
expected, and Maggie's feelings for Hugh may not be as dead as her
husband had hoped.

Both duke and duchess soon learn, to their peril, Hugh Armstrong is
not the honorable man they?d been led to believe. Insanely jealous of
his brother's situation, Hugh will stop at nothing to strip Robert of
all he holds dear? Including his life.

But the real danger for Robert and Maggie is not the villainous
Marquess, but the growing friction betwixt Catholics and Protestants in
Restoration Era Great Britain.

Can their love survive the trials that await them?

Being friends before becoming lovers makes for stronger relationships.
Aaron and Henrietta can certainly attest to this. It takes time to develop the kind of deep relationship each is in. Both are committed and fiercely loyal to a lover they each consider their best friend.
Then one night Aaron and Henri meet.
After a single conversation, neither can explain the profound connection they’re feeling. Is it intrigue? Lust? How can one chance meeting—one conversation–possibly have them questioning everything they ever believed about love?
________________________________________________________
Denial is a dangerous part of desire.
Aaron offers Henrietta a position at his business and she takes it—despite the intense connection they felt the day they met.
While neither can deny they’re feeling something, both are in committed relationships with someone they love profoundly. Neither would ever dream of acting on something that’s clearly just a physical attraction.
But sometimes your mind takes longer to accept what your heart already knows . . .
________________________________________________________
Their hearts have belonged to their significant others for years . . . and then they met each other.
Doing the right thing means cheating is not an option.
So it’s time to decide.
Should Aaron and Henri stay with the ones they love or take a chance on something so extraordinary it’s impossible to even explain—understand.
Making such a life-altering decision is truly scary.
But even more scary than that?
Regret.
Defining Love. Which is the forever kind?

“What about you? Anyone special in your life?”
The sweet smile fell for a moment, but she recovered quickly then nodded. The immense jealousy that gutted me so instantly not only surprised me but had me sitting up straight.
“Eddie,” she whispered then smiled, but it wasn’t as genuine as her earlier smile when she referred to Mia and me being perfect for each other. “We were friends for a long time, too, before anything happened.”
Unable to so much as force a smile, I stared at her silently. Of course she was spoken for. Of course someone had claimed her already, despite how young she was. In the short time I’d known her, I’d come to discover what an amazing young woman she was and how easy it felt to talk to her. She made me feel comfortable when I spilled my guts about all the aspirations I had for this business. And it was heartwarming to see the genuine enthusiasm not only when she spoke of her own goals for her future but when I spoke of mine.
Swallowing hard, I fought the unreasonable anger that she hadn’t mentioned her boyfriend before. She’d told me about everyone else in her life. Why had she left this out? “Is he back in California?”
Those sweet brows narrowed and she shook her head. “No. Edi’s my roommate.
The one you met today.”
It didn’t register at first. Then when it did, it still didn’t make sense to me. Surely I’d misunderstood. I stared at her, speechlessShe couldn’t be saying what I thought she was saying. Was she pulling my leg or did she misunderstand what I meant by someone special? But then her comment all but jumped at me. The one I’d been too inundated with jealousy to focus on earlier. We were friends for a long time, too, before anything happened.
What happened?
It was the burning question, but I couldn’t bring myself to ask, so instead I said the only thing that came to mind. “Oh. So you and Edi . . . are . . .?”
I couldn’t say it. It didn’t seem possible. I had nothing against the lifestyle, but I would’ve never believed Henri to be gay. I knew it was none of my business, but I would’ve thought Bea or Eileen might’ve at least mentioned it. I was still ready for her to laugh and say she got me, but she wasn’t even smiling now. Instead, she just offered a nod. “Yes, we are.”

Release Week Blitz Post: Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry

at 5/28/2015 12:17:00 AM 1 comments

An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible
Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.
Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.
No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

Excerpt

From Emily's Point of View. Set up: Emily is riding a motorcycle for the very first time and she's riding it with Oz.

THE MOTORCYCLE ACCELERATES AND THE FEW inches I had established between me and Oz: gone. My body slides forward, colliding into his, and we click together like two puzzle pieces. Heat rushes up my neck and onto my cheeks. My thighs are too close to his, too tight against his body and this is way more intimate than I have been before with a guy.
Even when the two of us kissed.
Oz veers left, away from Olivia’s, away from the main road, and the entire motorcycle pitches to the side. My heart thunders and my fingers clutch not only at Oz’s belt loop, but at the material of his jeans, and his hips.
Oz glances at me over his shoulder as the bike straightens out. “Lean with it, Emily.”
Right. Lean with Oz and the bike. Got it. The narrow road curves ahead and this time when Oz and the bike tilt, I move along with it. Oz releases one of the amazingly high handlebars and massages my knee before returning his hand to the grip. Whether in reassurance or to affirm I mastered the curve I don’t know, but either way, I sit higher.
The wind whips through my hair and onto my face and I shut my eyes for a brief second and pretend that I’m flying. There’s something energizing, something hypnotic, something inside me that begs to burst out of a cage in search of freedom.
The motorcycle kicks forward and our speed increases. Beams of sunlight filter through the towering trees and green foliage blurs together as we fly over the road. From head to toe, my body vibrates with the loud growling of the powerful machine.
My knee still tingles from where Oz laid his fingers on me and I’ve never been more aware of my hands in my life. I should let go of Oz’s body, but I can’t. Belt loops weren’t enough and my fingers have somehow edged up and onto his sides. Oz is solid. Yes, definitely solid. Every inch of him that I touch is tight muscle.
Oz is a year older than me, but somehow he seems older, wiser and hotter than any other guy I’ve known. Just the way he rides his bike creates this overabundance of confidence.
Warm sensations I’ve never experienced before blossom through me. We enter another curve and I lean with him. I like how in sync I’ve become with Oz and the motorcycle. Like we’ve merged into one.
The purr of the engine deepens and Oz eases the bike to a stop. His feet hit the ground and he turns the machine off. It’s as if all sound in the world ceased, or maybe I’ve gone deaf because there’s no way anything can be this still or silent.
The wind picks up and the silence is frightened away with the roar of the trees bending. Both Oz and I shift with the flow of air and Oz doesn’t move the bike until the breeze gentles.
Oz kicks down the stand and the bike tilts, but not too much. He sets a hand over the fingers that I laced together across his stomach. Oh, hell, I’m plastic wrapped to him. I drop my head onto his shoulder and it places me closer, and closer is not what I need.
I go to unglue myself, but Oz squeezes my fingers, sending a jolt of electricity up my arms. “You okay?”
I have to clear my throat to speak and that just sucks. “Yes.”
Oz slides his fingers against mine and a fluttering occurs in my stomach. It’s a light fluttering. Ticklish even, and my survival instincts scream at me to get off this motorcycle.
